SVR 4th-5th July 2009Thought id start the feedback off on this event.
Firstly my sincere thanks to Matt, Jack (and Les) for letting stay over at Matts house and feeding me -after the hot +sticky day and long drive it was really appreciated!
A rather hot and busy event in a lovely setting. As always it was great to catch up with members of the group again and I even bumped into Peiper. I found the event very very busy and the trains were packed which pretty much prevented any fun interaction with the public (and kept me from wanting to go back on the trains). Saying that the public seemed generally much more reserved in wanting talking/interacting with the re-enactors compared with other similar shows and it seemed a pity there wasnt much else for us to get involved in apart from wait around for battle brief/battle....partly as it was so busy/hot. The battles each day were interesting and as always it was good to see our guys Les and Matt on the pyro. I particularly enjoyed the 1940s evening as it created a good 1940s atmosphere...the women looked absolutely fantastic in their 40s look...but none of them wanted to dance with me!
I wont say on here what 'Churchill' said to me (in his authentic brum accent..hehe)
Although id do SVR again, im looking forward to doing Nene again as it was less busy and more re-enactor friendly.
