The best way to describe the colour is "Toxic Green"

Greetings kameraden
Hi Ropes try Nicholas Morigi Militaria, he has some good ones for around a tenner, make sure they are the right issue to suit your tunic as well mate, as the m36 shoulder straps were on dark green felt backing and the later ones (M40, M42, M43 type) were on grey/green felt mate.
The proper colour name of the piping/waffenfarbe was apple-green
which basicaly was a light green colour.
The ones you have in your pic are the Panzer Grenadier type which colour was called grass-green.
The poisonous-green colour were used by SD or SS Security Units.
For any doubts see the pic of my tunic on the "reenact outfit" thread

Cheers peiper. I just checked out His site and He has a disclaimer With his gebirg Shoulder boards.
PLEASE NOTE THAT THERE IS SOME DISPUTE AS TO WHETHER GEBIRGSJAGER GREEN IS LIGHTER THAN PANZER GRENADIER GREEN. THE PIPING OFFERED WITH THIS ITEM IS THE LIGHTER GREEN. IF YOU BELIEVE IT SHOULD BE THE DARKER GREEN PLEASE PURCHASE THE PANZER GRENADIER ITEMS OFFERED ELSEWHERE IN THE WEB SIGHT.
IF YOU HAVE AN OPINION ABOUT WHICH IS CORRECT PLEASE KEEP IT TO YOURSELF AS WE HAVE ALREADY HEARD TOO MUCH ON THIS TOPIC!!
So witch one do the group tend to go with?

Thats right John that's what i said
apple green or light green.
The ones you want Ropes from Morigi are the M42 ones which he has listed under Gebirgsjager, Morigi's Gebirg ones are correct mate, don't get his Panzer Grenadier ones.
The trouble with Gebirg piping is in almost every book it is called by a different name apple green, light green ,grass green etc, i think this was mentioned before on this site in another thread.
A good book ive got by one of the leading experts on WW2 Militaria Brian Davis called German Standards and Insignia is good , it lists all Waffenfarbe/piping and he lists Gebirg and Jager piping as apple-green.
Apparantly the same colour for Units piping was used on the Units
/Regimental Standards, that is how you can tell the official colour according to Davis.

Totally right.
Listen up lads. We all need to get our kit from the same place for quality reasons and uniformity.
We will post up a seller's list for kit. Don't get buying kit from random places. A deffinitive list will br posted in due course, might not be till after crimbo.

Good idea
Might be worth while putting up a few diagrams or pics of tunics for any newbies who might be joining our ranks, to show exactly where any insignia goes
