Maiden Newton

Great event. Why couldn't the weather on Saturday been the same as sunday Rolling Eyes Never mind.

I'd like to say thanks to all that went to Maiden Newton.  Every one on the battlefield portaryed 'military units in the field' very professionally. All feedback I have had was of the highest order. The standard of 'role-playing' on your part was outstanding. It was great to see both Axis and Allied units fording the stream with such enthusiasum! Yea, I know it wasn't you guys! Laughing What made my day was the recation of the crowd when the Sherman fired - "WOW!" Very Happy Very Happy

The rememerance service at the village memorial with the parish vicar and a large proportion of the village turning out was quite moving. The rilfe honour guard was provided by elements of the 39-45 Society British Para and the US 29th Infantry. Many thanks to those men. I'd also like to thank the SBG for the honour guard on route, a respectful show of solidarity.

There are not many events where a whole village supports you, from the Community Centre providing evening meal on Saturday to the Village Hall with breakfast on Sunday, all free to re-eactors. The grapevine tells me that Maiden Newton will probably be a bi-anual event. So there will be no clash next year if that is indeed the case.  It was good to see BJ turn up from his sick bed, must have changed him... He bought us all ice cream Laughing

The organisor Ian Hambrige of the 39-45 Society has asked me if I could extend his personal thanks to all re-enactors who turned up and put on such a good show. He realy cannot thank you guys enough for your efforts. Well done all!
