My thanks to Andy/Jon/Les and the rest of the group who attended the training weekend. It was a great uniformed warm up to the start of the events season and i enjoyed the mix of practical sessions and having a chance to discuss the year ahead (which sounds good!).. I also liked the venue and it would be great if the group are able to use it again...i also think the suggestion of using the place for a social is a great idea too -probably more convieient and cheaper too.
Could the some of the documentation relating to the stuff covered over the weekend possibly be posted as downloads on the forum?...things like the list of german drill/commands the grouo uses, a basic guide to using the enigma, short history of the 85th Gebirgsjäger, safety guidance etc etc..more things could be added over time where necessary...perhaps create a new section on the members area called 'useful downloads' or something like that...just an idea.
Thanks again all...looking forward to catching up with the group again at the next event.

I'm very pleased to hear it wnet well, I am bitterly p8ssed off that I couldn't make it for more than a breif hobble but hey.
Good idea Jacko.
There are some "Notes on Weapon Handling" (don't laugh Jonboy) including K98, MP40 etc which I was going to issues as hard copies.
I am a little reluctant to post these as a download on the forum for copyright reasons. I can email them to those who require them. I think I need to update the copyright to 2009 and we should be good to go!
There are other 'stuff' which can be emailed or put up here. E.G. the Standing Orders. _________________ ,[_I_],

Berg heil
For those inclined in knowing the battle tactics, weapon handling
and how to use equipment properly (Zelts etc), there are the copies
of the official Wehrmacht Service manual for sale by Nicholas Morigi.
This manual called the "Der Dienstunterricht im Heer" (Army service-
Training manual) better known as the "Reibert" after the man who wrote
it is full of illustrations and diagrams of the official Wehmacht equipment
and weaponary and tells you how to use it.
The language is in German though because it has been copied from the
original but the step by step diagrams etc are self explanatory.
The price from Morigi's is £18.95 per copy at the moment and can be
found in his "Manual and catalogue" catagory
Good hunting. |

As much feed back as possible so i can improve for the next on. The owner was very happy with us and was surprised how clean we had left our sleeping hut, we have no problem using this place any time we want. The £5 a day he charges goes back into the place to buy more huts etc.. _________________ We are Gebirgs..and we do it up moutains. |

Good weekend. Was nice to see everyone again. A bit more drill would have been nice and perhaps some battlefield tactics next time aswell. Apart from that it quite informative and a good laugh. _________________

Thanks for a great weekend it was great fun and good to refresh the parade stuff again.
Even though most of the drill/safty etc was not new to me it was good to have a reminder of what to do.
The weekend was interesting and was good for team building.
The place was ideal .
The only thing that worrys me is that I am afraid YOU are all MAD. I have got a pain in my rib from laughing, and I still think Ropes is actualy only there to asses us for being mad.
Hope you all got home safly see ya all real soon baz/liam _________________ iz meerkat from kazakstan

With the weekends drill and enigma stuff in mind ive 'bumped' up to the top of the main axis area of the forum the ENIGMA info and links AND the BATTLE COMMANDS post (originally by Ropes) as the battle commands post has links to an excellent page that also covers DRILL COMMANDS and how to fall in etc, exactly as we were taught during the training weekend. Do re-read the posts made in the topic and check out the links. The drill link even has some downloadable german spoken drill commands to listen to so you know how they should sound like.
Hope this might be of use.
