My thanks to Les for linvolving me in this event. Although it meant missing Tutbury castle event, it was good to spend the weekend supporting Les at Dover castle. Its not often you can say you have stayed inside a fortress castle and we did! i enjoyed being able to explore the castle after it had shut and having tour of the normally unseen castle areas. The public visitors were not the same type of people who go to military events an it was fun but very busy giving almost nonstop lectures to groups of the public about Enigma and the Gebirgs -being the only Gebirgsjäger on the site! Also it was good to get to know the members of the fieldgendarmarie better and my thanks to 'german' joe/claudias hospitality/food! Fun meeting lots of bemused foreign visitors including a ladyboy and a member of the B17 'sally b' aircrew. The battle was interesting along with the serious electrical storm we encountered on the monday afternoon!
I am looking forward to seeing the photographs of the 'typical re-enactor' poses around the castle, the cannon ball gonads and the 'where eagles dare photograph'!
Many thanks Les...id do this again if it doesnt clash with another event.
